FAQs re: JBC Technologies’ Acquisition of NADCO Tapes & Labels
For years, JBC Technologies has helped customers solve demanding application challenges with custom-converted functional films, wearable device components, gaskets, seals, attachment tapes, thermal and electrical management solutions, and more. With the acquisition of NADCO Tapes & Labels, we can offer a new line of custom tape and label products, including variable-data and serialized labels, safety and facility-identification solutions, UL/OEM identification labels, and even premium branding labels.
We’ve also significantly bolstered the depth and breadth of our printing capabilities to better support the clients who currently purchase printed products from us.
But most importantly, what does that mean for you as a customer of JBC Technologies?
It means you now have access to a significantly broadened portfolio – and a chance to streamline your vendor base by coming to JBC for your functional tape and label needs, as well as the products you’ve historically bought from us.
The following FAQs are designed to give you a better understanding of the NADCO Division of JBC Technologies’ offerings.
As with JBC Technologies, most of what NADCO offers is custom. Unlike JBC, however, NADCO does offer some standard products which are available to purchase through an online store: https://shopnadco.com/
NADCO’s custom products span five primary categories: safety and facility identification; traceability and variable data; technical labels; security and brand protection; and branding.
Examples include:
- Safety and Facility Identification Tapes and Labels − durable vinyl labels, OSHA-related markings, facility identification, pipe markers, safety tape, reflective tape, glow tape, anti-slip tape, grip products, printed tape solutions, magnetic tapes, all made for demanding operating environments.
- Variable Data Printed (VDP) Labels – custom labels that give each item, batch, or package a unique identity to support item- and lot-level traceability, recall readiness, inventory control, compliance, and customer engagement. Scratch-resistant overlaminates are available for applications requiring added durability. Core solutions include variable QR codes, serial and lot numbers, variable imaging, and custom serialized labels.
- UL-Recognized Technical & Compliance Labels - specialized labels manufactured by an authorized provider like JBC’s NADCO division that can perform reliably without smearing, fading or otherwise degrading under harsh conditions. As a UL (Underwriters Laboratories) authorized label supplier, NADCO Tapes & Labels, Inc. can print and distribute official UL certification marks and compliant labeling solutions for regulated industries.
- Security, Anti-Counterfeiting & Brand Protection Labels – custom tapes and labels designed to help customers verify authenticity and show evidence when a product or package has been opened or compromised. Core solutions include invisible ink, VOID pattern technology, and other tamper-evident features that help verify product authenticity.
- Dome Labels for Premium Brand Identification and High-End Name-Badging – used in many industries where premium brand identification is required, dome labels are unique because they feature a polyurethane coating that can create a clear, flexible dome when cured.
- Prime Labels – less technical, but no less important than the other products we make, NADCO supports customers' needs for retail package labels and more.
Yes. In fact, that is one of our specialties. Because we offer both digital and flexographic printing, customers can cost-effectively prototype digitally, launch digitally, and scale to flexographic production as volume increases.
We also have an R&D team to help you transform your concept into a functional product.
NADCO specializes in both high-speed flexographic printing and high-speed digital printing. This gives us the ability to easily and cost-effectively support high-, medium-, and low-volume runs.
Our digital presses support unlimited colors, with our flexographic presses handling up to seven spot colors. We can also process both hot and cold foil applications.
Like JBC, the NADCO division works with a broad range of materials, including, but not limited to: vinyl, conductive copper, polyimide, fabrics, kinesiology tape, foils, lead tapes, masking tapes, skin-friendly tapes, glow-in-the-dark labels, mylar, reflective films, and anti-slip tape.
Absolutely. NADCO has the ability to manufacture tapes and labels up to 20” wide – and however long you need.
Yes. NADCO can provide labels on continuous rolls that support automated applications.
We've touched on the answer to this question in some of the previous answers, but here’s a quick list for reference:
- Variable data
- Variable imaging
- Doming
- Invisible ink
- Tamper-evident technologies
- Embossing
- Inline shrink wrap plus label operations, including printable shrink wrap
- Self-wound printed tape
- Hot and cold foil
- Faux foil
As part of our efforts to continually look for more sustainable business and operational practices, we have been ‘pushing’ a digital embellishment option for foils. (‘faux-foil’ embellishment) which has several benefits over hot and cold foil:
- No expensive investment in mandrels (hot foil)
- No plate cost to customer
- Virtually no limitation to the number of colors we can create
- Faster lead times (no waiting for the above-mentioned consumables to ship to us)
- Press-proofs (FAI-sample run) are available without costly tool/plate investment (Helps Brands review a new look without big investment in a production-sized run)
- Reduced carbon footprint by eliminating the shipping back and forth of tooling/plates/foils/adhesives….typically all coming from different vendors.
- Eliminates the use of foil adhesives that may contain hazardous chemicals and/or skin irritants
