Faces of JBC: Eleni Pantelias

Eleni Pantelias

"Flexible, Committed, Resourceful."

It's time for another installment of our Faces of JBC Series, where we take the time to shine a spotlight on those special individuals who have become integral to our success as an organization. For this month's edition, we're thrilled to introduce Eleni Pantelias, a Buyer who has been such a versatile member of our Elk Grove team.

In this interview, we'll learn about Eleni's impressive career trajectory and noteworthy experiences from her time as a member of the JBC family. From recent college graduate in the marketing department, to a multi-faceted professional able to apply her ever-developing set of skills to numerous different roles, let's dive into Eleni's story.

Where did you work prior to JBC?

I was a college student. HST, which was later acquired by JBC, was my first big girl job. I was originally hired to work in marketing and if I am being completely honest, I did not know anything about manufacturing. However, I learned something new every single day and was able to grow my skill set within the company.

Why did you decide to go into converting and what do you most like about it?

It was never my intention to work in manufacturing. I went to school for recreation management with a focus on sports and landed this role with my marketing skills right after graduation.

My favorite part of working in this field is that I have been lucky enough to work in just about every department within the company. Before JBC acquired HST, we were a small operation, and we all wore many hats – this allowed me to broaden my wings to learn almost every aspect of the business. I began my purchasing role back in the HST days and never looked back.

Describe your role at JBC and how it fits into the bigger picture.

My role is to purchase all materials, supplies, equipment, etc. needed for manufacturing and day-to-day operations for Elk Grove. I have placed orders for items ranging from raw materials and packaging supplies to clean rooms and machines. I enjoy the challenge of working with various vendors on various purchases – both big and small.

My newest added role is scheduling, also for the Elk Grove facility. This is one aspect of manufacturing that I did not have previous experience in, but I am learning from the best to help keep our production team running smoothly.

Tell us about the team you work on.

Our team is elite. Everyone is extremely supportive and always eager to help one another. I have created wonderful relationships with many people during my time here and I cherish everything I have learned from each person whom I crossed paths with.

Can you describe the company in three words?

Flexible. Committed. Resourceful.

What is the best/most unique part about working here?

The people!

What is your favorite part of your role?

I was part of the HST acquisition and JBC was presented to us as a world-class company. I was excited to have the opportunity to work with a team that is goal-oriented and driven for success. My favorite part of my role is problem-solving with those core values in mind.

What are you most proud of while working here at JBc?

My adaptability. I have been given many tools over the years and I am proud that I have been able to utilize them towards success. I am happy to take on new challenges to help JBC grow and reach its goals.

So far, what has been your favorite project since working here?

The acquisition of HST by JBC. I was a bit weary of the idea of changing systems, learning new processes, and working with many more people than I was used to. However, I was pleasantly surprised to get through the experience with minor hiccups. Growing pains are normal but we had a great team backing us up and helping us get through the process.

How do you feel you have grown professionally?

I came to this company as a young adult with no prior professional experience and I have been able to work my way up through various departments. I have grown up a lot during my 8+ years in manufacturing, both personally and professionally and I attribute it to the wonderful support system I have around me.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I rescued a dog named Titika about 2 years ago and she is the absolute apple of my eye. She has taught me a whole lot about patience and understanding over the years, but I would not trade her for the world. When I am not giving her all my attention, I enjoy watching football (Go Bears!), traveling, going to concerts, and finding the best hangout spots around town.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I went to Greek school and did Greek dancing for 10+ years.

What is your greatest motivation?

My family. My goal is to make my parents proud.
