Faces of JBC: Daniel Condrich

Faces of JBC Daniel

"Determined, Innovative, Personable."

Welcome back to another edition of our Faces of JBC series, where we highlight the hardworking team members who keep things running smoothly behind the scenes here at JBC. In this very meta installment of the series, I get to hog the spotlight and (a bit selfishly) turn the topic of today's discussion inward.

If you've read any of our blogs over the last year, you've likely seen my name listed as the author at the top of the page. My name is Daniel Condrich, and I'm the Digital Marketing Coordinator here at JBC. Now, if you'll allow me to have my very own "Wizard of Oz" man-behind-the-curtain moment, I'll be sharing a bit about myself and my time here at JBC, so you have a face to put to the name behind JBC's blogs.

Let's jump into it...

What did you do before working at JBC?

"Before JBC, I was a Marketing Student at The Ohio State University. During the summer of my Junior year, I worked as a marketing intern at a full-service music branding agency. It was an interesting experience getting to combine my passion for music with my marketing education. We also worked with a lot of high-profile musicians, including Bruce Springsteen and Elton John, which was a fun experience to be a part of."

Why did you decide to go into Marketing, and what do you like most about it?

"I was drawn to Marketing because I felt that it would be a good way to express my creativity best in the business world. I like that I can interject my own personality into traditional business roles while fulfilling my urge to create."

Describe your role and what attracted you to it?

"As Digital Marketing Coordinator, I support a wide range of marketing efforts, including generating content like blogs, webinars, and E-books, assisting with strategic marketing planning, attending trade shows, and providing sales/business development support. What I like most about my role is the ability to dip my toes in a variety of different tasks. Some days I get to spend writing, some days I’m walking the tradeshow floor, and some days I’m sitting in on strategic meetings."

What are you most proud of since working here?

"About 8 months ago, I was tasked with expanding my marketing role into the realm of sales and business development. I took on the responsibility of screening all inbound sales inquiries, essentially becoming the first point of contact for customers looking to work with JBC. It was daunting at first, but I am proud of the way I hit the ground running and have learned a lot about sales and customer service."

How do you feel you have grown professionally?

"I feel that I have become more confident and comfortable in my customer service skills. In the past, I always felt that I choked on my words whenever I picked up the phone. Now, I feel much more confident in customer-facing roles."

Can you describe JBC in three words?

"Determined, innovative, personable."

Which JBC value means the most to you and why?

a.     Don’t ever quit

b.     Multi-faceted – "I think being multi-faceted means a lot to me because it’s what I’ve experienced the most here at JBC. I started as a marketing intern and have since had the opportunity to expand my role across multiple departments and job functions, picking up new skills and experiences along the way."

c.     We care

d.     Always with integrity

e.     The status quo can always be improved

What is your greatest motivation?

"My greatest motivation is feeling a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. I like being able to go to bed knowing I gave something my all and feel great pride in that. I also want to work hard for those who mean most to me in my life, like my family, girlfriend, and friends."

What are some of your interests outside of work?

"Making music/playing guitar is one of the most important things in my life. I’ve had a guitar in my hands since I was in first grade, and chances are, if I weren’t typing this, I’d probably be holding one right now too! Playing guitar and making music have always allowed me to express myself in a way I never could with words, helping me navigate both myself and the world around me. (Okay, pretentious introspective rambling over now.)"

What is something about you that most people don't know

"My band and I have gotten the chance to play in many different states across the U.S. Most recently, we got to fly out to L.A. and play at the legendary Whisky-a-Go-Go in downtown Hollywood. To make it even more unusual, it was Halloween weekend, meaning the already disorienting experience of walking down the Hollywood Strip became even more of a fever dream, with nearly everyone looking like ghouls, ghosts, zombies, and perhaps scariest of all... influencers. Talk about sensory overload!"

Who is the most famous person you've ever met?

"Steve Lacy. (And by meet, I mean receive passive-aggressive looks from while I nervously debated introducing myself in an empty Los Angeles Guitar Center…)"
