Welcome to another edition of our Faces of JBC Series, where we shine a spotlight on some of the dedicated team members who keep things running smoothly around here at JBC. In this edition, we're happy to learn more about one of our estimating experts, Scott Anderson.
Scott is a Senior Estimator here at JBC Technologies and has years of experience in the die-cutting industry. From his first foray into the world of converting at age 12 to his current role here at JBC, let's take a closer look at what Scott brings to the JBC team...
What did you do before working at JBC?
"I worked for another die cutter/converter for 27 years in many different areas, including on the plant floor, purchasing, PPAP coordinator, customer service, estimating/inside sales, and outside sales. I started there at age 12, when there were only 6 employees!"
Why did you decide to go into estimating and sales, and what do you like most about it?
"On the estimating side, I like to figure out how to run a product efficiently, learn about new products, and quote to win business. Sales was the next logical step for me, as I was interacting with customers daily."
Describe your role at JBC and what attracted you to it.
"My role is Senior Estimator, and I’m responsible for getting quotes done on new opportunities and existing business. I enjoy working with the sales team and customers to find solutions that work for their specific applications. Particularly, the applications that include adding an adhesive backing to foam parts are very intriguing to me. I find it interesting to see how things work and where they go."
What has been your favorite project here at JBC? What are you most proud of?
"The quoting and launch process of many medical products was a new area for me, and being able to navigate, quote, and win business is exciting."
How do you feel you have grown professionally?
"Throughout my career, I have grown greatly, thanks to my learning spirit. You need to keep learning to keep growing, and coming to JBC has helped me do just that."
Which JBC Values mean the most to you and why?
"1. Don’t ever quit - This is a great value in all of life – never give up/quit!"
"2. The status quo can always be improved - We need to always be looking for ways to improve, and this is done through learning and having an open mind. You only know what you know, so go learn more!"
What are some of your interests outside of work?
Coaching high school basketball and baseball, hunting, church, being on the school board, and spending quality time with my family.
