Custom Face Tape manufacturing solutions

tape that holds, pulls, and hides

The terms “face tape” and “beauty tape” are often used interchangeably, but both serve the same primary function – to mechanically lift or reposition different areas of facial skin to create a desired contour or tension.

JBC manufactures face tapes for applications such as:

Wrinkle-prevention patches    |    Brow-lift tapes
Face-lift Tapes    |     Smile line Support    |   Eyelid patches
Ear Tapes    |    Neck lift tapes

The Anatomy of Skin-Lift Tape Precision Converting for Complex Beauty Tape Stackups

A successful skin-lift tape is more than just a die-cut adhesive, and it takes a knowledgeable manufacturing partner, like JBC Technologies, to optimize each layer for performance, manufacturability, and user-experience.

Our role as the high-volume manufacturer is to be responsible for product design, but to provide valuable input focused on manufacturability, process, optimization, and consistent production quality.

Here’s what makes up a functional face tape:

The Easy Application Liner For One-Handed Application

Consumer face and beauty tapes are often applied with one free hand, while holding skin in the desired position. For beauty tape liners, it’s all about optimizing application control

To meet customer-specified liner performance goals, JBC can accommodate easy-release liners that feature pull-tabs, extended-release liners, and back-scoring, allowing consumers to peel and stick face tape products easily with one hand, without touching the adhesive surface.

Common Liner Materials:

  • PET - For its dimensional stability when die-cut, yielding greater tight-tolerance precision. Commonly used for: Intricate, smaller products, presented on sheets or rolls.

  • PCK (Poly-Coated Kraft) Paper – For it’s stiffness, making the tape easier to handle before and during application. Commonly used for: Large, individual “single” products in packages or boxes.

The Skin-Contact Adhesive For a safe, sheer-resistant bond

The primary mechanical function of a successful face tape is to resist the shear stress, or sideways pull, of the skin, while remaining gentle enough not to cause skin irritation upon removal.

Through our digital cutting capabilities, JBC offers rapid prototyping services that allow you to quickly conduct real-world wear tests to ensure the adhesive you’ve selected successfully balances these two performance metrics without any tooling investment.

Common stick-to-skin adhesive materials:

  • High-Sheer Medical-Grade Acrylics – For their high creep resistance. Commonly used for: Less sensitive, high-tension areas

  • Gentle Release Silicones For their atraumatic removal in highly sensitive facial zones. Commonly used for: Highly sensitive areas, like around the eyes

The Carrier For high-tensile strength structural integrity

Since the carrier layer is the main structural backbone of the face tape, it needs to consist of the right flexible film that won’t deform or lose tension under pressure.

For access to a wide selection of high-performance carrier materials, JBC leverages relationships with many industry-leading medical-grade material suppliers, helping you test, source, and select the right carrier material for your face tape.

Common Carrier Materials:

  • PET Film – For its high tensile modulus, meaning it won’t stretch under constant mechanical pull. Commonly used for: High tension face lift applications
  • PU Film – For its thin, “invisible” aesthetic appearance. Commonly used for: No-show aesthetic daily-wear patches (under-eye patches, wrinkle patches)
  • Nonwovens (Kinesiology Tape) – For its soft-touch feel and increased breathability. Commonly used for: Overnight wear where structural rigidity is less important than comfort

If you need retail-ready custom face tape products that stay adhered and remove safely, look to JBC Technologies for full-product lifecycle support, from prototype to scalable production.

Technical FAQ: Common Beauty Patch and Face Tape Questions

Right here! JBC is proud to have all of our manufacturing facilities here in the United States. For those who source die-cut face and beauty tape components, working with a U.S.-based converting partner means avoiding long overseas supply chains, tariff spikes, and global trade uncertainty.

For face tape manufacturing, acrylic and silicone adhesives are industry go-tos.

Acrylic adhesives commonly have higher-tack and shear strength, making them a frequent choice for higher tension skin lift applications.

Silicone adhesives have less shear-strength, but are gentler on the skin. Beauty tape brands typically select them for very sensitive facial applications in areas like underneath the eyes or around the mouth.

However, no material is one-size-fits-all. It’s important to work with your converting partner validate your material selection choices by leveraging our rapid prototyping services.

JBC provides a wide range of retail and industrial packaging options for beauty patches and face tapes, ranging from cans, tins, sleeves, and cartons to automation-ready kitting and labels.
