Performance Materials Acoustic Insulation for Noise Suppression & Sound Abatement
Do you need to put an end to noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH)? Look no further than JBC Technologies. As a large-volume die cutter of acoustic (noise suppression), thermal, and electrical insulation, JBC is a one-stop solution for high-volume OEM noise suppression and abatement requirements. We can also service one-off custom cut needs using our digital die-cutting capabilities. In addition, JBC can produce multilayered, custom-laminated insulations that include aluminum foil or peel-and-stick adhesive backings.
Do you need one of these acoustic insulation materials die-cut for an upcoming project?
Foams, polyurethanes, synthetic blankets, multi-laminates, and more! Acoustic Insulation Materials We Convert
Thanks to our vendor-agnostic approach to material sourcing, JBC has access to a wide range of industry-leading materials that address noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) challenges. Let's take a look at some acoustic insulation materials JBC converts:
3M™ ISOLOSS™ LS Polyurethane Foams
ISOLOSS™ LS polyurethane foams feature a low compression set, high durability, and broad operating temperature range and are available in a wide range of densities and thicknesses. They're flame and chemical resistant, highly shock resistant, and perform well in extreme environments. Available in bulk-rolls and can be laminated with pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) for easy application.
JBC Technologies is proud to be a 3M Preferred Converter.
Common Applications:
- Vibration damping and/or shock absorbing pads in electronics devices
- Gasketing, gap-filling and Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) reduction in appliances
- High durability gasketing, padding and sealing for automotive applications
- Air conditioner filter rack seals
PORON® Industrial Polyurethanes
Looking to reduce automotive NVH? Rogers Corporation’s family of PORON® polyurethane vibration management foams is known for its excellent vibration and damping and impact absorption. PORON® Polyurethane Foams are easily die cut into custom parts, are flame-retardant, and come in a variety of firmnesses and thicknesses. View Rogers’ Product properties guide here.
JBC Technologies is proud to be a Rogers Major Converter.
Common Applications:
- Lithium-ion battery cushioning and shock absorption for electric vehicles
- Lining aircraft fuselages to reduce cabin noise while exceeding industry standards for flammability, smoke density and toxicity
- Various rail interior vibration management applications including seals, floor isolation pads, sound barrier, and anti-vibration/rattle
Synthetic Blankets
Lightweight, compressible, and made of polypropylene non-woven sound-absorbing fibers, synthetic blankets are extremely effective in reducing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in appliance, automotive interior, and HVAC applications. Most are hydrophobic and resist moisture and bacterial growth.
Some of the more common synthetic blankets we die cut at JBC include Aim Fiber’s AutoZorb®, Polyzorb® products, and TENNECO Quietshield® acoustic absorber.
Common applications:
- instrument & door panels
- liftgates
- pillars
- package trays
- headliners
- carpet areas
TABshield
JBC’s TABshield patch series is a custom thermal& acoustic barrier that's easy to install, conformable to most shapes, and an ideal solution for a variety of targeted noise and heat suppression applications. Available in sheets, rolls, or die-cut to your specification, TABshield patches may also be customized with pull tabs for easier liner removal. Foil options include multiple thicknesses, smooth or embossed finishes, scrim reinforcement, and even perforated aluminum to improve acoustical performance for automotive heat shielding applications. Check out this TABShield FAQ for more information!
Common applications:
- engine compartment shields
- tunnel, dash, hood, and door insulators
- exhaust
- tunnel shields
- marine heat shields
Acoustic Insulation Material FAQ
JBC sources acoustic insulation materials from all over! We have long-standing relationships with many industry-leading material manufacturers, which give us a lot of flexibility when it comes to sourcing the right acoustic insulation material for your noise, vibration, or harshness project.
Not typically - we specialize in high-volume die-cutting and flexible materials converting, but our TABshield material is a notable exception. Because it is a custom formulation, we do offer TABshield in a variety of roll and sheet forms without die-cutting or converting services.
Technically, yes - but not in a meaningful way. Certain acoustic insulation materials convert mechanical energy into small amounts of thermal energy, but not enough to be significant. Some acoustic insulation materials do provide thermal resistance, but performance varies greatly on material and component design.
Yes, TABshield is available in both roll and sheet form, not just die-cut parts. If you're interested in sourcing rolls of TABshield and want to know what sizes are available, contact us today!
