Precision Die-Cut Medical-Grade Tapes & Adhesives
JBC Technologies has the quality systems, the equipment, and the technical know-how to manage the complex part geometries, tight tolerances, and multi-layered constructions needed for medical device die-cutting. We’re proudly ISO 9001:2015 certified with vertically-integrated converting capabilities that include high-speed, high-precision, rotary die-cutting, multi-layer laminating, slitting, and automated assembly.
What are medical-grade tapes and adhesives?
The category of “medical tapes and adhesives” is a bit of a catch-all. It covers everything from industrial acrylic foam tapes and thin bonding tapes – used in the assembly of medical hard goods and durable medical equipment – to the many medical-grade polyester non-wovens and other materials used in disposable health and beauty products and long term wearables like remote heart and glucose monitoring. There is one thing all of these items have in common, though, and it’s that they all pass some form of biocompatibility testing in order to truly be labeled “medical grade.”
Common applications include:
- Fashion and beauty tapes
- Beauty patches
- Long-term wearables for remote health monitoring
- Electrode assembly and attachment
- Border dressing for transdermal drug delivery patches
- Medical device mounting
- Sensor components and on-body patient monitoring
- Mounting and laminating electronic components
- Medical device assembly and components
- Electrodes: ECG, EKG, TENS devices
- AED defibrillator pads
- Pulse oximetry devices
- Surgical dressings and incise tapes
Medical tapes and adhesives selection – it’s all who you know!
The less time you have to spend worrying about whether or not you’ve selected the right medical-grade tape for your application the more time you can spend focusing on growth and profitability. That’s why we’ve partnered with the industry leaders in medical tapes and adhesives manufacturing – 3M, Berry Global, and DermaMed, just to name a few – so when you partner with JBC on your next die-cutting project, we put our collective know-how to work for you.
As with their industrial and automotive counterparts, medical-grade tapes and adhesives can be categorized in multiple ways including carrier type (foam, woven non-woven, polyurethane non-woven, spunlaced polyester nonwoven, film, paper, etc.), adhesive type: medical-grade rubber, acrylic, silicone, and construction (double-sided with or without differential adhesive, single-sided, transfer tape, etc.). Your specific application will determine which type of tape you need.
For a deeper dive into how to select a medical-grade adhesive, read Selecting the Right Medical Adhesive Tape, published by 3M, or click on either of the two product selection tools below.
