Today’s post highlights 3M™ general-purpose high-temperature acrylic foam tapes – a.k.a. the VHB™ GPH Tape series. Die-cut foam gaskets play a critical part in the performance of a wide range of products from automotive headlight seals to dishwashers, to compressors or blowers in an HVAC unit. And yet, with improper design or incorrect material specifications, these die-cut foam gaskets can fail… rendering the more expensive equipment and parts that they support ineffective. There are several things that can impact the longevity of a gasket that can be addressed with proper material selection. One of these is compression set, which will be addressed in this post.
JBC Technologies has recently announced the successful completion of third-party testing of our TABshield™ thermal acoustical barrier material against Ford automotive heat shield specification: WSS-M99P32-E6. This specification is considered by many within the industry to be the gold standard for automotive heat shields. It is comprised of over 20 different tests designed to measure the minimum performance characteristics of thermal and acoustical barriers.
